Why regular gut detoxification isn't a wellness luxury — it's basic maintenance for the machine that keeps you alive.
We service our cars every ten thousand kilometres without a second thought. We moisturise our skin, we exfoliate, we exercise. But the one system inside us that quietly handles the daily onslaught of environmental toxins — our gut — is the one most of us never think to clean out. That's a problem worth fixing.
This is the case for making a fibre cleanse a regular part of your wellness practice, and a guide to doing it properly with QENDA Ultimate Fibre — the most comprehensive fibre cleanse formula we stock at Alkaline World, and the one we recommend to anyone serious about long-term gut health.
Why fibre matters more than most people realise
Your gut is where your body does the hard work of separating what feeds you from what poisons you. And it needs help. The daily recommendation is at least 30 grams of dietary fibre — a target most Australians miss by a wide margin. That fibre needs to come in two forms, and both matter:
Soluble fibre dissolves in water and forms a soft gel as it moves through your digestive tract. Beyond keeping things moving, certain soluble fibres have been shown to support heart health and help lower cholesterol.
Insoluble fibre does the opposite — it holds its shape, adding bulk to stool and physically sweeping the digestive tract clean. It's what keeps transit time healthy and prevents food matter from lingering where it shouldn't.
A balanced diet needs both. Most modern diets, unfortunately, deliver neither in sufficient quantity — which is where a proper fibre cleanse becomes not just useful, but essential.
The daily toxic load nobody talks about
Think about everything your body has to process in a single day. The water flowing from your tap. The residues on the food you eat. The air you breathe in traffic. The synthetic compounds in your shampoo, your laundry powder, your kitchen cleaner. Thousands of chemical exposures, quietly accumulating.
A well-functioning body — one that eliminates efficiently — flushes most of this out before it causes harm. But that's the catch: most people don't eliminate efficiently. Here's the rule of thumb almost nobody knows: if you eat two to three good meals per day, you should be having two to three good bowel movements per day. Input in, waste out. One movement a day (or less) means your body isn't keeping up.
When elimination slows, waste and mucoid plaque build up along the intestinal wall — creating exactly the warm, damp, food-rich environment that parasites, pathogenic bacteria, moulds and fungi thrive in. Left unchecked, this is the terrain from which leaky gut, diverticulitis and various autoimmune conditions eventually emerge.
This is why a regular fibre cleanse isn't a wellness luxury. It's basic maintenance.
Why we recommend QENDA Ultimate Fibre
Not all fibre cleanses are created equal. When you're evaluating one, look for a few non-negotiables:
- Pure, organic, and gluten-free — anything less and you're just adding to the toxic load you're trying to clear
- Comprehensive herbal formula — the best products don't just contain fibre. They also include herbs with anti-parasitic action, adaptogens that support your body through the process, and ingredients that support liver and kidney function
- Heavy-metal binders — ingredients that latch onto and escort out the accumulated metals your body has been storing
QENDA Ultimate Fibre ticks every one of these boxes. It's a pure, organic, gluten-free formula containing a comprehensive blend of anti-parasitic herbs, adaptogens, liver and kidney support ingredients, and heavy-metal binders. It's the product we personally use and the one we stand behind. If you're going to do a cleanse, this is the one to do it with.

The protocol: how to do it properly
Here's the standard approach for adults. If you're under 40kg (including children), halve every dose below.
How to mix it
Add 350–400 ml of water to a shaker bottle — ideally one with a stainless steel wireball. Add the powder on top of the water (not underneath), shake hard for 5–10 seconds, and drink it immediately. If you let it sit, it thickens fast and becomes unpleasant to swallow. If that happens, top it up with more water, shake again, drink.
A glass and a spoon won't cut it — you need a proper shaker to get the powder blended evenly.
A note on the water you use: this matters more than most people realise. You're doing a cleanse to clear toxins out of your body — using chlorinated, fluoridated tap water to mix your cleanse is working against yourself. We recommend the Alkanatur Alkaline Water Jug as an accessible everyday choice — it filters out chlorine, fluoride and heavy metals and raises the pH to alkaline, which supports the cleanse. For serious health buffs who want the very best, the Aquarius M25 Hydration System is the gold standard — 10 stages of filtration including molecular hydrogen and vortex structuring, delivering water that's genuinely optimised for detoxification.

When to take it
Take your dose on an empty stomach, either 10–30 minutes before food or two hours after. This isn't just a suggestion — it lets the ingredients do their work uninterrupted, particularly the anti-parasitic components. Eating too soon after dilutes the effect and pulls the ingredients away from where they need to work.
The full timeline
Day 1 — Start light with 10 grams (one tablespoon) before breakfast. Let your body get used to it.
Days 2 through 7 — Move up to the full adult dose of 20 grams (two level tablespoons) before breakfast, every day for a week.
Week 2 onwards — Take 20 grams before breakfast and another 20 grams before dinner. Continue this twice-daily rhythm for three to six weeks, or until you're satisfied that a full detox has occurred.
Ongoing maintenance — Once things have settled and you're consistently having two to three healthy bowel movements a day, drop back to a single 20-gram dose most mornings for another two to three months. From there, taper further: every second day, then every third, while shifting to a general high-fibre diet or a daily maintenance fibre product you can stay on long-term.
Don't shortcut the dose
This is where people go wrong. QENDA Ultimate Fibre is formulated so that a full 20-gram serve delivers the right ratio of fibre plus supporting herbs. Halving the dose doesn't mean gentler results — it often means more uncomfortable detox symptoms, because you're not getting enough of the supporting ingredients to buffer the process.
The same applies to the twice-daily phase. Skipping the second serve or cutting the protocol short at two weeks is the most common reason people don't see the results they were hoping for. Commit to the full three-to-six-week window. The results are worth it.
What detox symptoms feel like — and why they happen
If you've never heard of the Herxheimer Reaction, this is the point to learn. When your body starts flushing out accumulated toxins, parasites die off and their contents release into your system. Your body then has to process all of that at once. The result can be mild bloating, cramping, and wind — usually resolving after a bowel movement. Some people feel a bit off for a few days.
This isn't a sign something's gone wrong. It's a sign the cleanse is working. Symptoms almost always ease as you move deeper into the protocol.
Giving your body the best possible support
A fibre cleanse works far better inside a broader clean-living framework. During your protocol, aim for as much of the following as you can:
- Eat clean. Organic, local, chemical-free, GMO-free wherever possible.
- Cut the drains — grains, sugar, and alcohol. Even temporarily. They feed the exact organisms you're trying to clear.
- Ease off meat. Smaller portions, less often. Your digestive system has enough to do.
- Load up on fruits and vegetables. More fibre, more phytonutrients, more support.
- Drink genuinely clean, alkaline water — all day. This is the single biggest lever most people overlook. The Alkanatur Alkaline Water Jug is the everyday hero. If you want the ultimate upgrade, the Aquarius M25 delivers water that's not just clean but structurally optimised for cellular hydration.
- Support the liver. St Mary's Thistle, turmeric, and rosehips all help the liver and reduce inflammation while it's processing everything the cleanse is releasing.
- Rebuild your microbiome — but wait. Probiotics, digestive enzymes, and fermented foods are essential for repopulating friendly bacteria after a cleanse. But don't start them for at least four weeks into the protocol. You want a clean environment for the good bacteria to settle into, not a battlefield. Skip kombucha specifically during the protocol — its sugar content works against the cleanse.
A few practical realities
- Listen to your body, but don't quit at the first sign of discomfort. Some pushing through mild detox symptoms is often what unlocks the results.
- Missed a dose here and there? Don't stress. Consistency matters more than perfection. Just finish the protocol.
- Struggling to get the full 350–400 ml down before it thickens? Split it in half — do two smaller serves back-to-back rather than one you can't finish.
- Hate the taste at first? For the first week only, replace up to half the water with organic apple juice. Reduce the juice each day until you're on water alone. Long-term the sugar in juice interferes with how the cleanse works, so this is a training-wheels solution.
- The 10–30 minute pre-meal window is a minimum, not a maximum. You can leave much longer between the drink and your next meal. The point is simply to make sure the cleanse ingredients have uninterrupted time in an empty stomach.
The bottom line
Your body is the only one you get. It works hard for you every day, quietly filtering, sorting, and eliminating the modern world's chemical noise. Giving it a proper cleanse a few times a year isn't indulgent — it's basic respect for the machine that keeps you alive.
Do it properly with QENDA Ultimate Fibre, pair it with genuinely clean water from the Alkanatur Alkaline Water Jug or the Aquarius M25 Hydration System, and support your body with the clean-living framework above. Your gut, your energy, and your future self will thank you.
