The Aquarius M25 is more than a conventional water filter. How the Aquarius M25 Filtration System Works

The M25 uses ten different filtration and mineral technologies across five replaceable cartridges, followed by the permanent stainless-steel Aquarius Quantum Vortex unit. Each stage has a specific role in improving the purity, taste, mineral balance and physical characteristics of the water.

Filter A — Sediment Protection

Filter A captures larger particles and suspended matter, including dirt, dust, silt, rust, corrosion flakes, sand, algae, organic debris, sediment, scale particles and cloudiness. Removing these materials first protects the following filtration stages and supports consistent flow.

Filter B — Fluoride-Reduction Carbon Stage

Filter B combines a German GUR ultra-polymer carbon rod with multifunctional MOX defluorosor media. Its developed pore structure supports effective adsorption and fluoride reduction while also assisting with the reduction of chlorine, taste and odour compounds.

Filter C — Carbon and Advanced Heavy-Metal Stage

Filter C reduces fine particles, chlorine, microorganisms, unwanted taste and odour while preserving important minerals and trace elements.

Its advanced heavy-metal filtration media is designed to reduce metal ions such as lead, mercury, arsenic, chromium and cadmium. It also assists with sediment, rust, organic chemicals, detergent residues, trihalomethanes (THMs), pigments and other unwanted compounds. This stage performs the work of both sediment and carbon filtration, helping produce fresher-tasting water.

Filter D — 0.01-Micron Ultrafiltration

Filter D is the ultra-purification stage. Its 0.01-micron ultrafiltration membrane is designed to remove suspended particulates larger than its pore rating, including bacteria, cysts, colloidal silica, albumin proteins, fine sediment and many microorganisms.

This stage also assists with chlorine, undesirable taste and odour, organic chemicals, lead and mercury. Ultrafiltration removes suspended material while allowing dissolved beneficial minerals to remain in the water.

Filter E — Alkaline Minerals, Ionisation and Hydrogen

Filter E supplies selected alkaline minerals to naturally alkalise and ionise the water and generate molecular hydrogen. Its mineral blend includes calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and silica.

The mineral media produces naturally alkaline, hydrogen-rich water without electricity. The result is smooth-tasting, mineral-enhanced drinking water with a negative oxidation-reduction potential under suitable water conditions.

Permanent Aquarius Quantum Vortex Stage

After filtration and mineral enhancement, water passes through the permanent stainless-steel Quantum Vortex unit. The chamber creates vortex movement and incorporates rare-earth magnetic energising technology.

This stage creates controlled vortex movement and magnetic exposure. Understanding the 0.01-Micron Rating

A micron is one-millionth of a metre. A filter’s micron rating indicates the approximate size of the openings through which water passes. A 20-micron filter has larger openings than a 5-micron filter, while a 0.01-micron ultrafiltration membrane targets extremely fine suspended particles.

Bacteria commonly range from approximately 0.2 to 2 microns in width and 1 to 10 microns in length, although microorganisms vary considerably. The M25’s 0.01-micron ultrafiltration stage is designed to create a physical barrier to suspended matter larger than the membrane’s pore rating.

Municipal tap water is normally disinfected before distribution, but water quality can still be affected by ageing pipes, storage tanks, plumbing and local conditions. Well or rainwater users should have their water professionally tested and may require additional pre-treatment or disinfection.

Lower micron ratings can reduce flow more readily when incoming water contains heavy sediment. Where sediment levels are high, suitable pre-filtration can protect the ultrafiltration membrane, extend cartridge life and maintain flow.

Installation Options

The Aquarius M25 offers three practical connection methods across two system configurations:

• Bench-top connection: Connects directly to a compatible kitchen tap using the supplied diverter.
• Under-sink with dedicated faucet: Installed discreetly beneath the sink and connected to a separate drinking-water tap.
• Under-sink with three-way mixer tap: Connects to a compatible mixer tap that keeps filtered water separate from ordinary hot and cold water.

The bench-top option is designed for straightforward installation where the existing tap is compatible. Under-sink installation provides a discreet finish and may require a qualified installer depending on the plumbing configuration.

Filter Replacement and Maintenance

• Filters A–E: Replace every 12 months or approximately 8,000 litres, whichever occurs first.
• Quantum Vortex unit: Permanent stage; no annual replacement required.
• Filter life varies according to usage, water source, incoming water quality, pressure and sediment levels.
• Water conditions in Western Australia may require filters to be replaced sooner than the standard recommendation.
• Shut off the water supply to the M25 when the system will not be used for more than 24 hours.
• Correct installation and annual filter replacement are required to maintain warranty coverage and system responsibility.
