I don't want to ingest the root directly, but the benefits can be extracted. I put in a filtered K-Cup adapter with some packets of Red Rooibos African herb tea and can make either a hot drink or a cold brew. That tea will take a full boil so it's easy to use with anything. I routinely add peach juice, but its good on its own as well. I find that Ginseng gives you a good boost, to mood and energy without the jitters of caffeine. I get caffeine from coffee but try to limit my intake. The herb tea I mentioned, and others don't contain caffeine, so it benefits from the boost from the Ginseng root. You get quite a lot and can use in fruit and veggie smoothies. I don't think it's harmful to consume the root directly, but I prefer to extract the essences.
