There are signs in natures, called “signatures”, that tell us what foods to eat to target specific parts of the body for health and healing.
Called the Doctrine of Signatures. These nature made medicines are not something someone studied in laboratory in order to prove some “theory” about whether something is good for you or not. Rather they are something someone observed in nature and found to be true through experience and wisdom over time.
In a lab you can “prove” water is H2O but you cannot combine hydrogen and oxygen and create water, nature creates water, nature creates “real food”, you know fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds that have a “living energy” that isn’t found in the lab where pills and drugs are made.
The” Doctrine of Signatures”
The “Doctrine of Signatures” has been an idea of herbalists for centuries. It is believed that God has marked everything and created with a sign (signature). The sign was an indication of the purpose for the creation of the item. In the early 1600’s Jakob Bohme (1575-1624) from Garlitz, Germany wrote “Signatura Rerum; The Signature of all Things”. His book espoused a spiritual philosophy; however it soon was adopted for its medical application. The Doctrine states that, by observation, one can determine from the color of the flowers or roots, the shape of the leaves, the place of growing, or other signatures, what the plant’s purpose was in mother natures plan.
A stupendous insight of civilizations past has now been confirmed by today’s investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called “The Doctrine of Signatures” was astoundingly correct. It contends that every whole food has a pattern that resembles a body organ or physiological function and that this pattern acts as a signal or sign as to the benefit the food provides the eater.

Whole Food Signatures
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, ms and radiating lines look just like the human eye … and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes resembles the alveoli of the lungs. The lungs are made of branches of ever-smaller airways that finish up with tiny branches of tissue called alveoli. These structures allow oxygen to pass from the lungs to the blood stream. A diet high in fresh grapes has shown to reduce the risk of lung cancer and emphysema. Grape seeds also contain a chemical called proanthocyanidin, which is thought to reduce the severity of asthma triggered by allergy.
A Walnut looks like a brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts helps develop neuron-transmitters for function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Eggplant, Avocados and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female – they look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries. An Italian study found that women whose diets included a lot of olive oil had a 30% lower risk of ovarian cancer. The reasons are unclear, but the healthy fats in the oil may help suppress genes predisposed to causing cancer.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Grapefruits, Oranges, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like body cells. Today’s research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.
Bananas, Cucumber, Zucchini and more target the size and Strength of the male sexual organ. It’s true!
Peanuts have a profound effect on the testicles and sexual libido. Peanuts were banned as a food for males by the church often during the middle ages. Most people don’t realize that arginine, the main component of Viagra, comes from peanuts.
Ginger roots resemble a stomach and it can be used to treat stomach ailments, assist digestion and to prevent motion sickness. They also believed that figs, which are full of seeds and mostly grow in pairs, could be used to cure male sterility.
Try cutting a mushroom in half and you will see that you are looking at a detailed portrait of the human ear. Mushrooms contain Vitamin D, which is necessary for bone health including all of those tiny bones in the ear which help transmit sound to the brain.
